A territory is a trajectory.
Places should be understood through change over time, not only through static snapshots or rankings.
Habitability is an independent research project, evidence engine and emerging territorial-intelligence product for understanding how the conditions that support life and human flourishing change across places and through time.
Climate, resources, infrastructure, institutions, affordability and human choices are reshaping the geography of human flourishing. Habitability exists to observe those changes, understand their implications and — when the evidence justifies it — explore what may come next.
You cannot protect — or prepare for — habitability if you cannot observe how it is changing.
Places should be understood through change over time, not only through static snapshots or rankings.
Habitability, Desirability, Affordability and Resilience illuminate different dimensions of a territory and should not be silently collapsed.
Research, Validated and Published are not equivalent. Observation, interpretation and outlook are not equivalent either.
Geography, time, source, transformation, uncertainty and limitations should remain traceable.
Observe how conditions evolve. Compare territories on defensible evidence. Make uncertainty and provenance visible.
The primary product object is a Territory Intelligence Profile: governed observations, historical trajectories, evidence depth and quality and, progressively, H-D-A-R interpretation, defensible comparison and grounded Ask.
76 annual H06 observations for each of eight pilot FUAs; 608/608 panel QA.
PM2.5 2022–2024 and PM10 2022–2023, with historical extension underway.
Data-backed Territory Intelligence views generated from the same validated product bundle.
The V0 is proof that the architecture is buildable. It is not yet a definitive model, score or forecast of territorial Habitability.
Evidence → Governance → Trajectory → Interpretation → Compare → Ask.
We build cheaply, make assumptions explicit, automate quality gates, preserve provenance and publish only what the evidence status supports. Missing evidence remains visible rather than being hidden by premature aggregation.
Product development creates research. Research creates useful public knowledge. That knowledge creates users and collaborators. Their feedback and support finance better evidence and a stronger product.
Habitability is responsible for its own definitions, methodology, data choices and conclusions. Intellectual influences and scientific literature are documented separately in the Foundations. No framework, metric or scenario is protected from revision when evidence contradicts it.
Questions, critiques, data suggestions, methodological feedback and potential collaborations are welcome.
